Applying for the Q1 Visa - Germany
Ad, because this blog post contains links to other websites. Obviously this is not sponsored.
Disclaimer: This Blog Post is only about my own experience with the Visa, from Germany in 2019. If you're from a different country or from the future the process might be different for you!
Applying for the Q1 Visa was complicated. I did expect it not to be the easiest, but there were so many websites that you needed to visit and I probably couldn't have done it without help.
With this post I hope to make your process at least a little bit easier. I also filmed a Youtube Video about it. Honestly, that is probably a little confusing (as is the process), so I thought typing it all out would make it easier for you!
The first step for you is: Waiting. Something you will get really good at trying to work for Disney. But, no, really. Basically, you need to wait for Disney to send you the I-797 Form, which is their petition to the embassy.
But, there is some stuff you're able to do without that! You will need a passport picture that's no older than 6 months, so if you don't have that, you can go and take a picture (or do it yourself to safe some money) right now! I didn't even know I needed a picture and my last passport picture is from 2015. So that ended up slowing my application down, and if you're pressed on time you really don't want that.
Okay, you have your I-797 Form now. What's next? You will need to fill out your DS-160. And that's going to take a while. For me, it took around 1-2 hours, not including the time I was looking for my documents and also the time I spent taking a passport picture.
So, I can't really help you with filling out your DS-160 Form, but I can tell you all the documents you will need.
- Most importantly: Your Passport
- Your I-797
- Your Pre-Arrival Information from Disney (it contains addresses you will need)
So, after you filled out that, you will need to make an appointment with your embassy. On there, you will need to pay for the Visa, before you actually get to make an appointment. Just make sure you select the same embassy you did on your DS-160 and you should be fine. And also, they don't accept credit cards as payment, even though they have a visa symbol. Just use your online banking, it will probably be the easiest.
And that's it! Well, you still don't have a Visa, you will need to drive to your embassy for your appointment and then you're ready to go!
I hope this blog post helped you at least a little bit with your application.
Have a Magical Day!
Lara
